Sunday Creek

Sunday Creek centers on Marjorie and Dustin, a queer couple living in rural Ohio. When we first met, they shared a vision of creating a sanctuary for their community within the beauty of the natural landscape. Through our collaboration, I sought to understand their experiences and to examine my own assumptions about rural life as a queer person. I wondered: Do they feel safe and seen here? Does the landscape offer belonging or isolation?

The photographs we make together portray their home, their land, and the quiet gestures of daily life. In documenting the world they are building, I aim to challenge urban-centric narratives about queerness and illuminate the diverse ways people cultivate connection and resilience in the places they call home.
